Tasmania Unbottled 2012
2012 Masterclass Zero to 200+ - differences between actual and perceived sugar levels
In response to the growing interest in different styles of off-dry, sweet, ice and botrytis Riesling, this workshop will explore the taste balance of Tasmanian Riesling across a wide range of styles and residual sugars (from dry to 195 g/L).
A complete analysis will be provided for each wine.
Participants will use the 'Riesling Index' to score balance and to explore the underlying principle governing sugar / alcohol / acid balance. This year's comprehensive masterclass will be offered exclusively for Sommeliers Australia members. It will be based on the very well received workshop facilitated by Julian Alcorso and Dr Andrew Pirie at the 8th International Cool Climate Symposium. Attendees are automatically registered for the main Tasmania Unbottled event.
TASMANIA UNBOTTLED, Australia's largest showcase of Tasmanian wine and produce.
A trade / media session will be held in Sydney and Melbourne with a tasting between 11.00am and 5.00pm.
Participating Tasmanian wine producers include Barringwood Park, Bay of Fires, Bream Creek, Cape Bernier, Clover Hill, Dalrymple, Derwent Estate, Devil's Corner, Grey Sands, Jansz, Josef Chromy, Moores Hill, Native Point, Pipers Brook, Pirie Tasmania, Spring Vale and Tamar Ridge.
The Tasmania Unbottled 2012 event follows an exceptional year for the island state, with Tasmania collecting the Jimmy Watson Trophy, Best Pinot Noir of both the Sydney International and International Cool Climate Wine Shows, Champion Wine of the National Cool Climate Wine Show, Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine's Winemaker of the Year and Young Winemaker of the Year, to name but a few.
TASMANIA UNBOTTLED 2012 will provide an unrivalled opportunity for wine enthusiasts, wine trade and media to experience first-hand some of the wines produced by these award winning vineyards and winemakers as well as current vintage releases. |
